PLUMMER — Seth Caven posted 19 points and eight rebounds, Owen Howard 14 points and 15 rebounds, as Clark Fork fell to the 1A D1 defending state champions, Lakeside, at Lakeside High Saturday afternoon.

Clark Fork stayed close, trailing just 45-31 at the half, but Lakeside eventually pulled away in the fourth quarter. It was the closest a 1A team in Idaho has been to the Knights all season long.

“We played our tails off,” head coach Heath Beason said. “Owen and Seth dominated on the boards; Cole and Chase did a great job running the offense. We played phenomenal on defense. I’m taking the blame for this one — I should have had them more prepared, but all-in-all these kids deserve some kudos. I’m so proud of them and this game gives us a much needed confidence boost heading into next week and districts.”

In addition to Caven and Owen Howard’s performances, Ethan Howard chipped in six points and a team-high three assists. Chase Sanroman added four points and a team-high three steals.

Tyson Charley had four 3-pointers and 20 points, Blaze Callahan 18 for the Knights.

Clark Fork (8-4, 3-0) hosts Immaculate Conception Academy on Tuesday.
