PREP WRESTLING: Holman, Walters, McLaimtaig brothers win titles at Conrad Garner

BONNERS FERRY — Sandpoint’s Jackson Holman (182) and Gavin Walters (285) and Priest River’s Colm McLaimtaig (138) and Caeden McLaimtaig (152) won their respective weight classes at the Conrad Garner Invitational held Friday and Saturday at Bonners Ferry High.

Holman defeated Luke Schell of Timberlake by a 5-4 decision, Landon Moore of Post Falls by pin (1:33), and Jason Stone of Post Falls 2 by an 8-6 decision in the championship match. Walters defeated Xander Scholes of Post Falls by a 6-3 tiebreaker, Cameron Gray of Lake City by pin (3:25), and Taylor Dodd of Bonners Ferry by a 7-0 decision in the championship match.

Colm McLaimtaig pinned all four of his opponents en route to gold: Bodey Clauson, Lakeland, 1:54; Kolby Lemmon, Kellogg, 2:48; Shane Sherrill, Sandpoint, 3:23; and Tanner Piper, Post Falls, 3:23. Caeden McLaimtaig defeated Austin Howell of Lakeland by pin (1:22), Andrew Lewis of Kellogg, by pin (3:15), Caden Dutra of Lake City by a 10-0 decision, and Taycen Genatone of Post Falls by pin in the championship match (1:30).

Ashlei Hawkins (132) and Jorden Tyler (195) took second, Shane Sherrill (138) and William Bomba (220) third for Sandpoint.

Sandpoint duals Lake City on Wednesday. Priest River is idle until the 2A/1A District 1-2 Championship to be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at Potlatch High.
