AARP Foundation offers free tax preparation help

| February 6, 2024 1:00 AM

Now until the end of tax season, AARP Foundation is once again providing free tax preparation assistance across Idaho through its Tax-Aide program.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is the nation's largest volunteer-based free tax preparation service. You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service, and all Tax-Aide volunteers are IRS-certified.

To find an AARP Foundation Tax-Aide site, hours of operation and for more information, including which documents to bring to the tax site, visit https://states.aarp.org/idaho/ or call 888-227-7669.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offered in conjunction with the IRS.

Tax-Aide has several options for providing taxpayer assistance including in-person, drop off service, no site visit, facilitated self-assistance and more but each site varies how volunteers can deliver this service. For the most up to date information, visit the AARP Idaho website for details.

Tax-Aide provides tax preparation assistance services nationwide. For the 2023 tax season, more than 26,000 volunteers served more than 1.6 million taxpayers, 920,000 of whom were adults over 50 with low income. In addition, Tax-Aide participants saved more than $1.1 billion in refunds and credits; older adults with low income saved over $564 million.
