CLARK FORK — Senior Cole Sanroman scored 16 points and dished out seven assists as the Wampus Cats took down Immaculate Conception Academy on senior night at Clark Fork High.

After a slow start, Clark Fork went on a 22-5 run to end the second quarter, and the momentum only picked up from that point on. The Wampus Cats outscored the Cristeros 33-12 in the second half to take home the victory. Head coach Heath Beason said switching the defense from a box-and-one to man-to-man in the second half really allowed the team to flourish.

“We started coming through in the second half,” Beason said. “We started getting some steals, catching some breaks and crashing the boards — something we did not do in the first half … we put a little bit more pressure on them and it paid off. Overall, Chase and Cole controlled us on the offensive and defensive side of the ball; Ethan Howard also played really well.”

Ethan Howard was in fact doing things on all sides of the ball, even showing off his vertical with a slam dunk in the fourth quarter.

“That was probably one of the best dunks Ethan had in his career,” Beason said. “He never had a straight dunk like that, it has always been on a fastbreak. Not only that, but it came from his brother. So, that’s a big moment right there — a moment that he will not forget. I could not be happier for the brothers, especially Ethan.”

In addition to Cole’s performance, Seth Caven added 12 points, eight rebounds. Chase Sanroman had 11 points, four assists, and four steals. Arrow Christofferson had nine points, Ethan Howard eight points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and two steals for Clark Fork. All of the aforementioned are seniors of whom were recognized for their dedication and effort Tuesday night. Rounding things out was Sophomore Owen Howard who recorded 15 points and six boards.

Clark Fork (9-4, 3-0) hosts Lakeside on Thursday.
