Sandpoint Teen Center opens second location

SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Teen Center is expanding, now offering a space for children on the Sandpoint Middle School campus as well as at its original location at First Lutheran Church.

The new space opened Monday, teen center officials said in a Facebook post. The community’s youths will be able to utilize both areas — the church as well as the P-1 portable building behind the middle school. Volunteers are hoping to soon get even more space on the middle school property for kids to enjoy after school.

“[The program is] non-faith based,” the post said, “just a warm, dry place to meet friends or make new ones.”

The teen center reopened in November 2023 after a brief closure and its church location continues to entertain students after school, providing games and snacks for kids until the evening hours.

"The Sandpoint Teen Center will continue our tradition of healthy snacks, hot meals, fun and challenging games and activities, homework help, and teen mentorship," Kate Mansur said.

All students are welcome, whether they attend public school, private school, or are homeschooled. Students from seventh to 12th grade are invited to hang out at either location from 2:45-5:15 p.m. Monday through Friday.
