Take the time to research candidates

Do you think the Founding Fathers were wrong? Can man rule himself? The founders fled a king dictating how they lived their lives.

I argue that we have become so lazy when it comes to our elected officials. I challenge you to research the candidates. Do a background check. Go to the meet-and-greet events, and attend commissioner and city council meetings. Don't just vote for a particular party without researching. Don't just vote the slates given to us by the central committees, a political action committee, or going by the North Idaho way.

Asking your hair stylist who to vote for is not research. Who cares who endorsed the candidates? Just because their family name is known does not make the candidates a good representative. Many dictators had a well-known family name. A nice flyer or attending a certain club, PAC, group, or church does not make them worthy of being a public servant. Talk is very cheap.

This has given us elected officials who are drunk with power and are not serving the people. Most of our elected officials ran for the paycheck, the power, to become governor or maybe they needed the insurance benefits. I am sick of electeds with mouths like sailors who act like dictators.

As the election season is on the horizon I challenge you to find representatives who want to serve the people. Representatives who return phone calls and emails, and who are cordial. Do you care how your tax dollars are spent? Do you think having a wise plan is important? Or should we spend money like drunken sailors?
