Sandpoint's claim as walking town are dubious

Winter is here, even though the weather seems more like spring. Without a doubt, winter is far from over, which brings us to the subject of the property developer who owns the sidewalk on Woodland from Boyer Avenue to Samuelson Avenue. This property, I’m told, does not belong to the airport.

Long story short — for five years, this sidewalk has not been cleared of snow/ice. Although last fall a section of the cyclone fence has been pulled down and is still covering a portion of the sidewalk in front of the new manufacturing buildings — the purpose of which is a mystery.

I’ve spoken to both the county and city about the owner of this sidewalk and, not surprisingly, no tax records were found. While Sandpoint might advertise itself as being a “walking town,” I disagree!
