Sending troopers to Texas raises questions

1. Why are we sending troopers to Texas? Do we have enough to spare for our needs in Idaho?

(a) If we have too many, perhaps some budget cuts are in order for the troopers.

2. Who is picking up the tab for this expense?

(a) Troopers will more than likely be on some type of per diem.

(b) Idaho's taxpayers should not be paying for this.

(c) Costs for food, lodging, and transportation must be billed to Texas.

3. What about the potential costs to our troopers should they be placed in a very hostile situation.

(a) Assuming they could at minimum be arrested by the feds, who bails them out and provides legal representation?

(b) What about potential job-related injuries in a conflict with either the feds or the illegal immigrants?

These are just a few questions that need to be answered. Thirty-plus years as a journalist makes me wonder.
