Help the Panida celebrate centennial

| February 24, 2024 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The Panida is celebrating its centennial and needs the community's help in showcasing the untold thousands of memories that have taken place in the historic theater.

The Panida Centennial Celebration Committee has been busy at work creating an archives of the theater’s first one hundred years, board member Jim Healey said.

"Thank you so much for loving and supporting this incredible community treasure, he said in a press release announcing the drive.

The committee — Katelyn Shook, Susan Bates-Harbuck, Donna Guthrie, Jana Shields, Healey, Gail Trotta, Doug Jones, and Karen Davis — is reaching out to the community for items dealing with the Panida’s rich history: programs, posters, photographs, ticket stubs, newspaper articles, and anything else that deals with the theater.

Any donations will be added to the Panida’s archives. If people want to retain possession of the item, they are asked to make a photocopy of the item. The photocopy then can be donated to the Panida. Or they can bring in the original to the Panida office and the staff will make a copy for the archives.

If photographs are being donated, please identify the people in the photographs, the event, and the date, Healey said.

Items can be dropped off in the Panida office between noon and 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Or they can be mailed to the Panida Theater, P.O. Box 1981, Sandpoint, ID 83864.

For questions, email Panida officials at panidatheater@panida.org.
