On Thursday, Feb. 8, Sandpoint lost a great champion of local youth sports. Kerren Vollmer lost her battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of service.

Kerren was heavily involved in youth sports, volunteering for Flagstaff Little League (Ariz.) in the 1970s and '80s, then for Sandpoint Little League in the 2000s and 2010s.

For Sandpoint Little League, she was instrumental in helping the league get on firm financial ground, and she helped set up the systems we currently use for player registration and for assessment day. She was ever present watching her three grandchildren compete in local sports, especially little league baseball games, from 2005 until her passing.

In lieu of flowers, Kerren requests donations be made in her name to Sandpoint Little League. Kerren wanted nothing more than to see field upgrades made to local sports fields, and her first priority was to see a dedicated baseball/softball scoreboard installed at Memorial Field in Sandpoint.

Sandpoint Little League will be setting up an account in Kerren’s honor to help raise these funds. A donation to the Kerren Vollmer Memorial Fund is a charitable tax deduction under Sandpoint Little League’s 501c(3) #94-3117316.

Sandpoint Little League is currently able to accept checks in Kerren’s name at: Sandpoint Little League c/o Kerren Vollmer Memorial Fund P.O. Box 832 Sandpoint, ID 83864
