Lillian Beatrice Gollen-Spade, 91

| February 29, 2024 1:00 AM

Lillian Beatrice Gollen Spade, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Feb. 17, 2024, at her home on Sagle Road.

She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Bernalillo, N.M., the first daughter to James and Mary Mask. She moved with her family to a farm near Garfield Bay in 1946. In 1949, she met the love of her life, Don Gollen. She married and moved to Don’s 240 acres where they raised three sons. Needing closer access to the school bus, they purchased an additional 200 acres on Sagle Road.

Lillian was happiest helping with their sons’ education including their 4-H club, Korral Kids, while also tending their garden and raising cattle, horses and chickens. She and Don traveled the Northwest while making many friends providing their horse-neutering service. After Don died, she worked as a state potato seed inspector for several years.

In 2001, she met and married Dick Spade. They spent many hours traveling to rodeos and auctions throughout the Northwest.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her baby sister, Billie-Jo; her sister, Audrey; her husband, Don; and two sons, Donnie and Jerry.

She is survived by sisters, Barbara (Tom) and Rhoda; a brother, Jesse (Bonnie), and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her husband, Dick; son Archie (Liz); grandsons, Cole (Joanna), Glenn (Cin) and Dylan; granddaughter Suzanne (Ryan); great-grandson Malik; great-granddaughters, Maeve and Hollis; and two step-daughters, Annie and Cassie.

Lillian was the beloved matriarch of the entire Gollen family. She contributed a bountiful knowledge of native plants, gardening, canning and animal husbandry throughout her lifetime. Our entire family will hold her close to our hearts forever.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring at Lillian’s home for all family, neighbors and friends; date to be announced.

Family and friends are invited to sign Lillian’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
