MGs offer 'seed starting' class

| January 4, 2024 1:00 AM

Become a more successful gardener after attending an upcoming Master Gardener class on growing plants from seed.

The class will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Create Arts Center, 900 Fourth St. in Newport.

Participants will learn the advantages of growing their own plants from seed, what conditions seeds need to germinate, and tips and techniques for successful planting. They will also learn when and how to start plants indoors and then how to keep them healthy until they are ready to be transplanted into the garden. In addition, there will be two hands-on demonstrations on making soil blocks for germinating seeds and transplanting seedlings.

The class fee is $5, ($3 for MGs), and can be paid by check, money order or through PayPal.

To register for the class, contact Beverly Sarles, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; by phone at 509-447-2401; or by email atbeverly.sarles@wsu.edu.
