John George Gonzalez, 73

John George Gonzalez, a resident of Clark Fork, Idaho, unexpectedly passed away Dec. 17, 2023.

John was born July 5, 1950, in Pasadena, Calif., to William and Nellie Gonzalez. He graduated from Rosemead High School and went on to achieve a master’s degree in management from Cardinal Stritch University.

Father of Ashlee Anderson and her husband, Hale, grandson Julion and his wife, Katie. John was predeceased by his parents, Nellie and William Gonzalez, and sister Patricia Figueroa. He is survived by his siblings, William, Irene, Kenneth, Ronald, Katherine, and many nieces and nephews.

John, an Army veteran, enlisted at the age of 18, becoming a Green Beret, with specialties in both explosives and the German language. He had achieved the rank of E-5, serving in a variety of assignments, including Intelligence, while stationed in West Berlin during the Berlin Cold War.

John loved being outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and virtually any activity that brought him outside. Given a choice, John would always choose the solitude of the outdoors over anything else. He loved sharing his life experiences, and did not hesitate to lend a hand when someone was in need. 

A private cremation will be held, with a celebration of life service in John’s honor to be held at a future date.
