Thoughts on county, state political actions

| January 14, 2024 1:00 AM

"Record low in U.S. satisfied with way democracy is working." (Jeffrey M. Jones on news.Gallup.com on Jan. 5, 2024). “A new low of 28% of U.S. adults are satisfied with the way democracy is working in the country.”

The Bonner County commissioners insult citizens and elected officials in their tyranny-like rule. They violate county ordinance, 1-200B, which serves to bolster Idaho Constitution, Article I, Sect 10, “instructing your representatives.”

Commissioner Luke Omodt refuses to acknowledge the rightful election winner of Commissioner District 2, Asia Williams, 365 days and counting. Omodt refuses to get a warrant to open up Darcy Smith’s Fairground laptop that might shed light on alleged grand theft.

Prosecutor Louis Marshall contends commission violations are ongoing but does little to rectify the situation. Given Marshall’s comment about the "government corruption, right-on!" Why should the public interpret Marshall’s failure to perform legal duties, under I.C.31-2604, to be anything but abdication of authority?

Senator Scott Herndon lacks full support to First Amendment protections for all citizens! Ironically, Herndon seeks a constitutional amendment for private education, a tweaking of the margins for political vote gain. Idaho Constitution Article IX, Section 9 already includes private education rights, “… unless educated by other means …”

The solution to the growing dissatisfaction might be voter-imposed term limits. Vote against incumbents at the first evidence of Code and/or Constitutional manipulation.
