SANDPOINT — Sandpoint, who led by as much as 15, overcame a 9-point fourth quarter deficit to pick up an Inland Empire League win over Moscow at Les Rogers Court on Tuesday.

Karlie Banks scored 16 of her game-high 37 points in the first quarter to help the Bulldogs to an early 22-7 lead. However, Moscow outscored Sandpoint 21-6 in the second quarter, which was capped off by a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from the Bears’ Punk Knott, to tie the game.

Moscow led by nine, 51-42 heading into the fourth, but Sandpoint took complete control of the game down the stretch, outsourcing the Bears by 18 in the quarter to capture their 15th win of the season.

“Credit to Moscow, they shot the ball well in the second and third quarters,” head coach Will Love said. “They had 10 three’s, seven which came in those quarters. They put together a good run. Karlie started to heat up again and we did a better job rebounding in the fourth quarter — I’m proud of the girls for coming back. It was a big win. Karlie, the basket looks big for her right now, and she just had another stellar game.”

Banks, who also had a team-high six rebounds, knocked down a game-high seven 3-pointers on the evening. Brecken Mire added 12 points and a game-high eight assists and three steals. Jordyn Tomco recorded seven points and five boards.

Sandpoint (15-3, 5-1) will travel to Lakeland Friday to take on the Hawks at the annual ‘Battle for the Paddle’ spirit competition.
