Sandpoint Lacrosse hosting free clinics this week, one with professional players
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint Lacrosse will be hosting two free lacrosse clinics for new, beginning and returning players from first through 12th grade at the Bonner County Fairgrounds this Saturday and Sunday.
Coaches and experienced players will be on hand to teach kids the basics and run simple drills. No pre-registration is required for any of the clinic dates. These clinics are reserved for youth and high school players who intend to play for Sandpoint Lacrosse this spring. On Sunday, two-time Major League Lacrosse champion, Nick Ossello will help lead the clinic alongside two-time Premier League Lacrosse All-Star, Brent Adams.
Osello is a Wheat Ridge, Colo., native who played lacrosse for Notre Dame University (‘15) where he was an Honorable Mention All-American midfielder and a five-year letter winner — one of those years he was also a linebacker on the Notre Dame football team. Ossello was an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy in 2018. He recently played for the Redwoods LC during the 2019 MLL season and traveled with Redwoods to Utah for the 2020 PLL Championship Series, where he was featured in all of his teams’ six games.
Adams, who hails from Norwalk, Conn., played for Fairfield University where he was a two-time All-NEILA First Team selection and two-time All-ECAC First Team selection. Adams also plays for Redwoods LC as a midfielder. During the 2019 season, he scored 14 goals for Redwoods. In 2020, he was a key initiator for Redwoods' offense at the 2020 PLL Championship Series. In the six games at the tournament, Adams scored five goals and dished out one assist.
In addition to the clinics, Lacrosse Wolf, a company that specializes in lacrosse gear, will also be at the Bonner County Fairgrounds (Main Exhibit Hall parking lot) selling equipment Saturday and Sunday.
