Ponderay Rotary seeks scholarship donations
Education is a cornerstone of personal development, offering a sound mind and crucial opportunities for a fulfilling life.
Unfortunately, financial constraints can hinder many from pursuing higher education. This is where the Ponderay Rotary Club steps in, recognizing the importance of making education accessible to all, said the club's Kari Saccomanno.
"For students lacking financial support, the educational landscape can seem overwhelmingly vast and unattainable," Saccomanno said. "By providing scholarships, Ponderay Rotary aims to empower these students, granting them control over their educational journey, career aspirations, and entire future. The Ponderay Rotary Scholarship Drive wants to help ensure that financial barriers don't become insurmountable obstacles."
Toward that end, the club is seeking donations for its scholarship fund.
"Donating toward a student’s future is a unique and profoundly rewarding experience," she added. "Your contribution becomes a catalyst for life-changing opportunities, impacting students from diverse backgrounds."
Support helps students realize career aspirations. However, those donations are also tax deductible.
The club’s scholarship program extends beyond traditional college and can be applied to various educational pursuits, from trade and beauty schools to vocational training programs, Saccomanno said. The scholarship is open to students of all ages.
Scholarship applications will open in February and will be available on Ponderay Rotary’s website.
To date, Ponderay Rotary has raised a quarter of its $16,000 drive goal for 2024. The club has given more than $300,000 in scholarships over the past 17 years, including over $35,000 in 2023. That, club officials said, reflects members' focus on helping local graduating seniors and residents pursuing further education.
The club hopes to give at least $35,000 again this year.
Any donation or sponsorship is appreciated. Sponsor levels and benefits can be found on its website at PonderayRotaryClub.com. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 813, Ponderay, ID 83852, or through the club’s website, PonderayRotaryClub.com. The drive ends April 15.
"Together, let's invest in the potential of our students and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future," Saccomanno said.
