SANDPOINT — This afternoon, Schweitzer is taking the focus off skiing and turning its attention to mental health with a free screening of “The Paradise Paradox,” a film that addresses the mental health crisis affecting many of America’s small mountain towns.

“Our aim is to unite the community, stimulate thoughtful conversations about mental health, and shed light on the valuable resources available within our community,” said communications manager Taylor Prather.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. at the Panida Theater, giving attendees time to engage in conversations about mental health with community mental healthcare providers and nonprofit organizations. Notable participants will include Kaniksu Community Health, Bonner General, Ethan Murray Fund, Sandpoint Psychotherapy & Associates, and NAMI Far North.

The film will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion featuring community members representing diverse personal and professional backgrounds.

"Together as a community, we have the power to bring about positive change,” said Justine Murray, president of the Ethan Murray Fund. “This screening provides us with a unique opportunity to foster awareness and build a supportive environment for mental health in our Sandpoint community."

All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend this event aimed at fostering awareness and dialogue around the crucial topic of mental health in rural communities like this one.
