Proposed library bill: misdirected and wrong
While perhaps well-intentioned, I firmly believe the proposed Idaho House Bill 384 (aka The Children's School and Library Protection Act) is misdirected and wrong.
The proposed legislation places additional financial and administrative hardship on our library and staff. Attempting to navigate these new rules will negatively impact our library's ability to continue to provide the high-quality educational and entertainment content currently available to our community.
Additionally, attempting to limit minors' access to "obscene or harmful" material by financially penalizing local libraries and their staff is misplaced. You do realize teenagers already have access to far greater improper material via their smartphones, right?! Please, contact your state representative and let them know this proposed bill is a very bad idea.
