Richard (Dick) Arndt, 80

Richard (Dick) Arndt was born March 12, 1944, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to Edward Walter and Alda Marie Arndt. He passed away on his 80th birthday, March 12, 2024, in Houston, Texas.

Richard graduated from the University of Idaho and was a Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity member.

After college, Richard was drafted by Vince Lombardi with the Green Bay Packers. He was traded to the Pittsburg Steelers, where he played defensive tackle for four years. Richard met Jo in Pittsburgh, married her, and shortly after moved to Texas, where he worked in construction and at Continental Airlines and raised his family. Jo was his love of 53 years.

Richard loved to make people smile with his one-liners, some remarkable and some not so remarkable. His personality was as big as his stature. He was a formidable cheerleader, heard and loved by all.

Richard retired early to help care for Jo's father. Richard truly was the son Tony never had. What a twosome they were. Richard loved playing golf and spending time with his golf buddies. He also loved spoiling his two constant companions, Shadow and Little Mister.

Richard considered his most prestigious accomplishment receiving the 'Papa of the Year' award, which his three beautiful granddaughters awarded him.

Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward Walter and Alda Marie Arndt, and his in-laws, Anthony James and Mary Louise Diyorio. He is survived by his wife, Josephine, of Kingwood, Texas; his sons, Aric Edward, of Fostoria, Texas, and Darren Richard and his daughter-in-love, Heather of Kingwood, Texas; his granddaughter/ daughter, Marissa Josephine and his granddaughters, Mia Lauren and Lennon Reese; his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Barbara Arndt of Twin Falls, Idaho, and his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Jerry Kruse of Nampa, Idaho.
