How much is too much property tax?
How much property tax is fair for a 100% church-owned, non-profit assisted living facility?
Luther Park has paid $1.5 million in property taxes over the last 10 years. Efforts to appeal the property tax in the previous five years have successfully reduced taxes from $184,000 in 2019 to $94,000 in 2023. While we appreciate the reduction, we are still paying $93,000 more than our closest local competitor, which has approximately one-half the beds.
On a per-resident basis, each resident is paying $1,400 per year, while our closest competitor is paying $25 per year per resident. Local tax authorities have refused to compare Luther Park against other similar facilities.
We are appealing the taxes again this year and need your support by contacting the county commissioners and expressing your support for a fair reduction or elimination. Another option is to help us with our charity drive by providing a tax-deductible donation to Luther Park.
