Dale Lyman Morris, 85

| July 9, 2024 1:00 AM

Dale Lyman Morris, 85, peacefully entered the presence of his Heavenly Father on July 5, 2024, with his beloved wife at his bedside.

Memorial services will be held Friday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Dale was born July 28, 1938, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Lois (McNeil) Morris and Myron Bede Morris. One of five children, including a twin brother, he grew up in Careywood where his love of the Idaho outdoors started. He graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1956.

His deep love and pride of country led him to the Air Force immediately after his 18th birthday. As an atomic veteran, he proudly served as an aircraft mechanic in the 4926th atomic bomb test squadron. He worked on the Northern Pacific Railroad before going to work in body and fender repair. Having a steadfast work ethic, he was well-known and respected in the community for operating his business, Post Falls Machine and Welding, with honesty and integrity. Combining his machinery skills and devotion to country, he worked until retirement for the Navy at the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center in Bayview, Idaho.

Dale married his high school sweetheart, Flora Mae Hill, in 1958. Flora and Dale lived nearly all of their 65 married years in and around Coeur d’Alene. Together they raised alpine goats and chickens, loved all animals (especially tiny black poodles), adventured with many friends and loved their extended family with resolute devotion. Members of Hayden Bible Church, they faithfully served the Lord together.

Dale lived a life full of outdoor pursuits including camping, fishing and hunting in God’s creation, but he also loved to read and always had a stack of books beside his favorite rocking chair. Above all, Dale’s love and devotion to his Savior leaves a legacy of faith that is marked by stories of His goodness and mercy.

Dale was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, James and twin Dean; sister Ina Jean and their parents, Lois and Myron Morris.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Flora Morris, as well as many nieces and nephews.
