Hot temperatures are expected to continue in the region, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for parts of the Pacific Northwest including North Idaho.

Temperatures are forecast to be in the mid-90s on Friday and soar well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas. In North Idaho, temperatures could hit the low 100s Saturday and as high as 107 on Sunday and Monday.

The heat advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. Saturday for portions of North and North Central Idaho, as well as portions of eastern and central Washington state, according to National Weather Service officials in Spokane. An excessive heat warning will follow, lasting from 11 a.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters predict high temperatures in the valleys to reach 95 to 103 Fahrenheit on Friday, climbing to 97 to 107 on Saturday. Sunday and Monday could see temperatures near 100 to 110 Fahrenheit. Overnight lows are expected to remain in the mid-60s to mid-70s Fahrenheit.

NWS officials warned that the extreme heat will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.

Officials advise residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid sun exposure, and check on relatives and neighbors.
