The North travel softball team hosting tryouts

SANDPOINT — The North, a Sandpoint-based travel softball team, will be holding tryouts for their 12U, 14U, and 16U/18U teams July 22 and 27 at Sandpoint Middle School’s Colt Field, located at 301 Division St.

Tryouts are open to all who are interested. Currently, and in the past, The North has rostered players from Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry, Priest River, Troy, and Thompson Falls. The teams play in tournaments, including USA Prep tournaments, throughout the region, specifically in Idaho, Washington, Colorado and Montana.

The 12U team is holding tryouts July 22 at 6 p.m. The team is coached by Cody Montgomery and Beth Danish and the two can be reached at 208-610-3528 (Cody) or at thenorth12u@gmail.com. To register, visit https://form.jotform.com/241884295095165. Makeup tryouts are available by appointment.

For the 14U and 16U/18U teams, tryouts will be held July 27 starting at 10 a.m. Pitchers and catchers are from 10-11 a.m., all other positions will be from 11:30-1:30 p.m. The 14U is coached by John Wilson and Lacey Inge. The 16U/18U team is coached by Leah Platt and Logan Conro, who are both former collegiate softball players. Conro was a four-year starter at Georgia Southern University (NCAA Division I) and Platt was a two-year starter at Blue Mountain Community College (NWAC).
