Driver escapes injury in Thursday crash

A tanker truck driver escaped injury after his vehicle overturned and spilled about 2,700 gallons of emulsified asphalt north of Priest River, Idaho State Police said.
The crash occurred just before 12:46 p.m. Thursday in the 7000 block of Highway 57.
Police said a 27-year-old man from Spokane Valley, Wash., was driving a 2002 Sterling tanker truck northbound when he drove onto the right shoulder. He overcorrected and lost control, veering into the southbound lane before the truck overturned. The man, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured. 
The highway was blocked for about 6 1/2 hours.
The crash remains under investigation. 
Bonner County Sheriff's Office, Priest River Police Department, West Pend Oreille Fire Department, and Idaho Transportation Department assisted at the scene.
