Last call for Clark Fork football camp
CLARK FORK — The Clark Fork High football team will be hosting their second annual youth football camp July 25 to 28 with a variety of former NFL and college football players on the coaching staff, three of whom are former Wampus Cats.
With the camp now slated to begin next week, Don Heller, who was originally on the coaching staff, is now being replaced by 1979 Clark Fork High graduate Howard “Bicker” Therien.
The camp is open to players from seventh to 12th grade. Five sessions will be held in total: July 25 and 26 from 5 to 8 p.m.; July 27 from 8 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.; July 28 from 8 to 11 a.m. There is no cost to attend the camp; donations will be accepted and all proceeds will go towards the CFHS football program. Athletes should bring shorts, cleats, and a water bottle (no helmets or pads).

COACHING STAFF
Ron Heller: Heller, a 1981 Clark Fork High graduate, played tight end, nose guard and linebacker for Oregon State (1981-85) before being signed as undrafted free agent to the Dallas Cowboys in 1986. Heller went on to play for the Super Bowl XXIII Champion 49ers, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Seattle Seahawks. During his time at Clark Fork he was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and track and field. He was named to the All-State teams in both football and basketball and won a state title in the 200-meter dash. He was inducted into the Idaho Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
Bob Gagliano: Gagliano played quarterback for Hoover High and then Glendale Community College, where he played with current Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. He went on to play for United States International University (NCAA Division I at the time) and Utah State University (NCAA Division I) before being drafted in the 12th round by the Chiefs in the 1981 NFL Draft. Gagliano racked up 3,431 yards and 17 touchdown passes during his NFL career, starting for the 49ers, Chargers, and Lions at different points in his career. He also played for the USFL’s Denver Gold.
Todd Johnson: Johnson, who graduated from Clark Fork High in 1983, played fullback, linebacker, and tight end for Eastern Washington University (1983-1987). He was a part of the 1985 EWU Hall of Fame team that earned the program's first ever Division I-AA playoff bid. Johnson was a captain of the team and was voted as the "Most Inspirational Player" by his teammates.
Mason Johnson: A native of Kent, Wash., Johnson earned five letters for Kentlake High, three in football and two in wrestling. In football, he was named First Team All-South Puget Sound League on the offensive and defensive line in both 2012 and 2013. He was also named the SPSL North Offensive Line MVP in 2013. Johnson went on to play center for Oregon State University for three years (2014-2016).
Bicker Therien: Therien, a 1979 Clark Fork High graduate, went on to play at Boise State University before joining Eastern Oregon University, where he was a three-year starter and prominent force on EOU’s offensive line from 1980-1983. He was a two-time All-EVCO recipient and also received All-Conference, All-Northwest and All-District honors during his time as a Mountaineer. For his efforts, he was inducted in the EOU Hall of Fame in 2017. Therien was a longtime teacher, coach, and principal all around Idaho before recently retiring.
