Locals win at Bonners Ferry’s Kootenai River Run

BONNERS FERRY — Sandpoint rising eighth grader Paloma Parr-Coffin placed first out of 105 finishers in the women’s 5K race with a time of 21:46 while Sandpoint High rising freshman Miro Parr-Coffin placed first out of 17 finishers in the men’s 10K race with a time of 35:20 at the Kootenai River Run held July 20 at the Boundary County Fairgrounds.

Also in the women’s 5K race, Sandpoint’s Boehme Parr-Coffin won the 0-11 age group with a time of 22:16, over eight minutes ahead of the next fastest competitor in her age group. Paloma was first in the 12-15 age group, defeating Bonners Ferry High rising junior Matisyn Stiern by roughly two minutes.

In the men’s 10K race, Miro defeated former Bonners Ferry High legend and Boise State All-American Forest Braden for the crown. In the 5K race, Indy Parr-Coffin took second in the 0-11 age group with a time of 24:26.
