Playhouse invites all to annual meeting

| July 24, 2024 1:00 AM

The Pend Oreille Playhouse Board is offering the public a chance to peek behind the curtain at its annual meeting, being held Sunday, July 28 from 3 to 4 p.m.

Those attending will hear about building updates as well as a special announcement about the upcoming 2024-25 season. Photos from past performances will be displayed on stage in a continual loop for a self-guided virtual "tour" of the season.

The event offers a chance to learn more about community theater production, volunteer positions and donation opportunities. A special gift will be presented to actors and volunteers in attendance.

The family-friendly event takes place at the Pend Oreille Playhouse, 236 S. Union Ave., Newport. Visitors can stay for the full hour or drop in.

Since 2004, Pend Oreille Players Association has produced plays, musicals, radio-style readers' theatre, concerts, and variety shows; developed an international One Act Play Festival for unpublished one-act plays and began a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors and a summer theater day camp for area youth.

POPA is made up entirely of area volunteers who have a love for the performing arts. These diverse people band together for weeks of intense rehearsal to teach and learn all aspects of the performing arts and entertain the community.

Pend Oreille Players Association’s purpose has been to nurture, inspire, educate, and entertain the people of the Pend Oreille Valley by providing opportunities to experience all aspects of the performing arts.
