Smith signs with University of Idaho
Full caption: Sandpoint High standout thrower Ivy Smith recently committed to continue her track & field career at the University of Idaho (NCAA Division I) in Moscow. Ivy, a two-time 4A state champion, set the 4A state meet shot put record, the Sandpoint High shot put record, and won a gold medal with a throw of 44 feet and seven inches at the 4A state track & field meet this past May; that mark was tied for the best in the state of Idaho across all classifications. She also won the 4A state shot put title in 2023 with a throw 40 feet even. In addition to her state titles, Ivy has won five 4A Inland Empire League district titles, three in the shot put and two in the discus. In the discus, Ivy has placed amongst the top five at the 4A state track & field meet the past two seasons and her personal best mark of 122 feet and four inches was the third-best in Idaho’s 4A classification this past season. During her entire career, between the shot put and discus, she has placed first 12 different times at various invitationals.
