Good luck trying to decide what is true

| July 25, 2024 1:00 AM

It’s likely many of you are too young to know about a court ruling in 2007 that it was OK for candidates to lie about other candidates and situations. In addition, the court said it was up to the individual voter to determine if the information was true or not. The burden was thrown onto the voter and was sure to fail; it has. I’m sure there were “untruths” before the ruling but more controlled and tempered. Who has the time to track down all these claims, videos, and statements?

Some candidates on all levels of government appear to talk about and run down the other candidates rather than spend their time telling us what they’re going to do and do it for America and its people. In this federal election part of the voters claim to “hate” one candidate and the other has a health condition that doesn’t allow him to function as he should. You don’t have to be a medical expert to react to what you see. To me “hate” is a powerful emotion and word, I don’t know either candidate well enough to “hate” them. I may not care for what they’re doing to the country or a state but I don’t hate them.

So it’s OK to lie, distort the truth and now accelerated with today’s technology to thousands of distorted facial expressions, comments and verbal speeches.

Good luck trying to figure out what’s true or not.
