Unfounded claims need to be ignored
Our former state senator, Scott Herndon got exactly what he wanted this week. He got his picture on the front page of the newspaper and had his ridiculous “interesting connections” speculations elevated to print.
A local business was burned down. We don’t know why. I’m thankful that the fire department responded so effectively. The fire could have spread and caused more damage and harm. I appreciate the professionalism of our local law enforcement. They did their work and caught a suspect quickly.
Now Scott wants to turn this into a dangerous political game where he doxes good community members.
I planned to ignore his unfounded ramblings. I don’t believe in rewarding bad behavior when someone craves attention. Then he doubled down on his message — repeating my name, specifically — and casting unfounded shade. When it hit the front page of the newspaper with his picture and his words in the headline, I felt the need to respond.
Scott’s primary indictment of me is that I placed orders with Bonner Media, a local print shop owned by the suspected arsonist. So did many other politicians — Republican, independent, and Democrat. If Scott wants to indict everyone who did business with Bonner Media, that's going to be a long list of local people.
Buying local should be celebrated. Check Scott’s Sunshine Report to see where he’s spending his campaign money. Most of it goes to Nevada. Specifically, to McShane, an organization that traffics in misinformation. He spent more than $100,000 with them already this year — and that was just the primary, where he was resoundingly defeated.
