Small wildland fire discovered, extinguished in Sandpoint

SANDPOINT — A 0.1-acre fire was discovered and contained near Baldy Mountain Road yesterday, according to a notice on the Idaho Department of Lands website. When the Daily Bee reached the scene at 10 a.m. today, the fire was completely extinguished. 

The burned area is adjacent to Chuck Slough and just east of the Baldfoot disc golf course. The eastern edge of the area is a handful of yards from a railway. No structures appear to have been affected by the fire. 

Officials were investigating the scene this morning; the cause of the fire has yet to be reported.

    The burned area is about a quarter of a mile south of the entrance to Baldfoot disc golf course.
