Holcomb, National Parks take to Festival stage

| July 28, 2024 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — This is a show you'll want to attend.

First up is Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors. The critically acclaimed band will be joined by The National Parks for a show that promises plenty of fun and great music. All on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille on what promises to be a beautiful summer day.

Holcomb has always charged listeners’ hearts and minds while inspiring them to find joy and community in their 15 years of nonstop touring.

With several critically acclaimed albums under his belt, Holcomb has been featured by NPR, Entertainment Weekly, Billboard, CMT, and more. Holcomb is an Emmy Award-winning artist with music featured in over 75 of TV’s most-watched shows.

Holcomb has traveled the globe with a catalog of vibrant, honest songs that explore the full range of American roots music. The band has appeared at countless major festivals including Bonnaroo, ACL, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Stagecoach, and more. They have shared the stage with legendary artists like Willie Nelson, Zac Brown Band, The Avett Brothers, and many more.

There are no strangers at a Drew Holcomb show. For the better part of two decades, the award-winning songwriter has brought his audience together night after night, turning his shows into celebrations of community, collaboration, and contemporary American roots music.

"Strangers No More," the ninth album from Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, celebrates that sense of togetherness. Produced by Cason Cooley, it expands the band's mix of timeless songwriting, modern-day Laurel Canyon folk, amplified Americana, and heartland rock 'n' roll.

Song by song, the album offers an all-encompassing view not only of the places Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors have been, but where they're headed next, too. It's an invitation into the band's world. Strangers no more, indeed.

Making the show even better is an appearance by The National Parks.

You know the feeling when the clouds part and the sun shines down on you, the rush you get when you run and jump into a lake at full speed, or the moment a gust of morning air brings new life as you step outside and look at the world around you?

The National Parks transform these sensations into music. This Provo, Utah-based quartet — comprising Brady Parks (vocals, guitar), Sydney Macfarlane (vocals, keys), Cam Brannelly (drums), and Megan Parks (violin) — draws inspiration from their surroundings to create cinematic indie folk-pop. Their sound features soaring harmonies, organic orchestration, and subtle electronic elements.

The band, formed in 2013, has consistently captivated audiences. They've generated more than 200 million streams across four albums: "Young" (2013), "Until I Live" (2015), "Places" (2017) and "Wildflower" (2020). A highlight from their latest album, "Time," amassed more than 9.3 million Spotify streams as "Wildflower" garnered widespread critical acclaim.

The concert is a seated show, meaning the area in front of the stage is general admission and is short chair and blanket seating only.

Early entry and sponsor gates open at 5:45 p.m.; general admission and season pass gates open at 6 p.m. Music begins at 7:30 p.m. The early entry and season pass lines are on the lake side of the field, the sponsor line is on Ontario Street, and the general admission line begins in Lakeview Park.

Free parking is available at Sandpoint High School, 410 S. Division and a free SPOT bus shuttle service to and from Memorial Field runs continuously from 4 to 11 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to check the Festival website directly to ensure they are purchasing authentic tickets. The Festival at Sandpoint only sells tickets through ETix, and does not work with any outside websites to sell tickets.
