Human rights grant recipients named

The Idaho Community Foundation has announced the recipients of the 2024 Bonner County Endowment Fund for Human Rights grants.

The task force, which was founded in 1992, is dedicated to affirming the dignity and worth of each human being and promoting equality under state and federal laws. In announcing the selection, BCHRTF board members said they selected organizations and projects that enhance human rights and celebrate diversity in the community.

In total, $17,700 was awarded to various projects that affirm the principles and ideals of human dignity, promote community education on bias and prejudice, and celebrate the value of racial, social, and cultural diversity in Bonner County, BCHRTF officials said.

This year’s grant recipients are:

• Bonner Community Food Center, $1,000 to expand the garden program and bolster the food that is offered to shoppers.

• Bonner Partners in Care Clinic Inc., $1,000 to continue providing financial assistance to patients at little to no cost.

• Community Cancer Services Inc., $1,000 to support the Cancer Burden Relief Project to provide support to Bonner County residents with a cancer diagnosis.

• Food For Our Children, Inc., $1,500 to purchase food for weekend food bags provided to food-insecure local children attending Sandpoint Head Start Center and Bonner County elementary schools.

• Kaniksu Land Trust, Inc., $2,000 to support an assessment of Kaniksu Land Trust's current education practices, ensuring alignment with the organization's values of inclusivity, community engagement, and financial stewardship.

• Music Conservatory of Sandpoint, Inc., $1,000 to support the Music Matters! GLOBAL program.

• NAMI Idaho — Far North, $5,000 to support the Sand Creek Clubhouse project to provide an inclusive and non-discriminatory environment for adults living with mental illness in Bonner and Boundary counties.

• Pend Oreille Arts Council, Inc., $1,000 to support the Collision of Rhythm program.

• Pro-Voice Project Foundation Inc., $2,700 to support a tour of the renowned stage production from PVP, Our Voices, Our Choices: Idaho Abortion Stories, a performance of Idahoans' real-life abortion stories.

• Sandpoint Youth Center Inc., $1,500 to support the Healthy Teens After School program.
