PRIEST RIVER — The West Bonner County School District trustees will gather in the Priest River Lamanna High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. Wednesday to examine both new and ongoing developments.

The special meeting will be the first board event since the resignation of trustee Troy Reinbold was announced July 17. According to the meeting agenda, acceptance of Reinbold’s resignation and a declaration of vacancy for the Zone 3 Trustee seat are among the items of new business.

Additionally, the meeting is slated to feature the first readings of nine policies, including guidance for public participation in board meetings and the review of learning and library materials in the district.

Superintendent Kim Spacek, who was hired in June, commented on the upcoming policy changes during the board’s July 17 meeting.

“By doing that (reviewing policies) on a consistent basis, the community sees the trustees looking at policy, updating policy, and being current on policy, and then asking, ‘how is this going for this policy?’” said Spacek.

“I think that will start to build trust in itself, because people will see that you're on top of what you are overseeing,” the former superintendent at Mountain View School District in Grangeville added.

In addition, the board intends to consider approving a nurse salary schedule adjustment and changes to language regarding administrator salary schedules. Updates on a school resource officer contract with the city of Priest River and new suicide intervention and prevention measures will also be provided.

The trustees will meet next Aug. 12 at 5:30 p.m. for a fee hearing, where they will receive public feedback on proposed fee changes for the 2024/2025 school year. All board meetings are held in the Priest River Lamanna High School cafeteria, 596 Highway 57.
