WSU Master Gardeners offer 'seed saving' class

| July 31, 2024 1:00 AM

Saving your own garden seeds can save money and help develop a variety adapted to your unique environment.

An upcoming class on Aug 8 will teach the basics of growing, harvesting and storing seeds. Each crop has different requirements, and some are easier to get positive results than others, MG officials said. The upcoming class will help participants learn to identify which plants are inbreeders and outbreeders, and discover other plant genetics leading up to breeding their own varieties. Master Gardeners Kamori Cattadoris and Dixie Chichester will teach the class.

The class will take place at the Create Arts Center, 900 Fourth St., Newport, on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 6:30 p.m.

The class fee is $5 ($3 for MGs) and can be paid by check, money order, cash or through PayPal.

To register, contact Beverly Sarles Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 509-447-2401 or email beverly.sarles@wsu.edu.
