Clark Fork High to host youth volleyball camp

| June 1, 2024 1:00 AM

CLARK FORK — The Clark Fork High volleyball team will be hosting a youth volleyball camp Thursday, June 20, at the CFHS gym (502 N. Main St.) for boys and girls entering third through eighth grade this upcoming school year.

The camp will be run by CFHS head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey and assistant coach Tracy Andersen Olson. CFHS volleyball athletes will also be there to mentor the campers. While at the camp, athletes will learn the fundamentals of passing, setting and hitting through fun games and one-on-one coaching. Campers will also have the chance to earn awards at the conclusion of camp including Best Teammate, Most Improved and the Lady Cat Award, an award chosen by the high school athletes to recognize a player who embodies the program’s values of coachability, skill application and positive leadership.

The gym will open at 9:30 a.m. and the camp will officially start by 10. Campers will break for lunch from 11:30 to noon and then play until 2 p.m. Campers will need to bring court shoes, a water bottle and sack lunch. The cost of the camp is 40 dollars and all campers will get a vinyl Clark Fork Volleyball sticker custom designed by Turner Promotions in Sagle. The camp acts as a fundraiser so that the CFHS program is able to purchase gear for their upcoming season; it also serves as a chance for CFHS athletes to be coaches for a day and be positive influences for youth athletes in the community.

“I'm a big believer that our program should be making an impact beyond the wins and losses we see during the season, and beyond just the athletes who play Clark Fork volleyball,” Kiebert-Carey said. “Our youth camp is a chance to share some of the best parts of volleyball with upcoming generations: communication skills, perseverance, celebrating your own successes and the successes of others. It's awesome to see those lessons passed on, and to see our older players take pride in it.”
