Festival lineup poster released

| June 2, 2024 1:00 AM

Silhouetted against the bright moon against the night sky, one of the iconic Scotchman Peak mountain goats takes center stage.

Of course, in a nod to its presence on the Festival at Sandpoint's lineup poster — and the bands listed above it — the mountain goat is also playing guitar.

Designed by poster contest scholarship winner Magdalena Idzikowska, the poster's design was announced by Festival officials Friday.

Idzikowska is a college student pursuing a degree in graphic and web design at North Idaho College. As the winner of the poster contest, she will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Idzikowska said she draws on her passion for travel and the beauty of the natural world as inspiration for her art.

“As someone who deeply appreciates nature, I was inspired to create a poster inspired by the mountain goats around Lake Pend Oreille,” Idzikowska said. I felt compelled to showcase their beauty and significance through my artwork."

Idzikowska grew up in Poland and studied at Liverpool Hope University in England. After deciding to pursue graphic design, she decided to look for opportunities outside of Europe.

“A significant factor in choosing Coeur d'Alene was the outstanding reputation of North Idaho College. Their graphic design program was perfectly designed to meet all my expectations and needs,” Idzikowska said. “The program director was incredibly welcoming and took the time to discuss the program with me despite the 9-hour time difference. Everything aligned perfectly, making my decision an easy one.”

Festival officials said they are grateful to be able to highlight an iconic aspect of Sandpoint while also showcasing the artistic talent of the local community.

In addition to the 2024 Series Lineup Poster artist and scholarship winner Idzikowska, Daniel Gill was selected as the Festival’s 2024 poster contest winner.

Gill’s original fine arts piece and poster will be revealed July 9, after which poster prints will be available for purchase, and bidding for the original piece will open, concluding at the grand finale performance on Aug. 4.

The Festival at Sandpoint will host its annual summer performance series at War Memorial Field from July 25 to Aug. 4. The series, now in its 41st year, features a variety of genres, including rock, country, folk, and indie music.
