Cox ready to 'serve' at Macalester College
Full caption: Sandpoint’s Berkeley Cox recently committed to continue her tennis career at Macalester College (NCAA Division III) in St. Paul, Minn. She was a one-time 4A state qualifier in mixed doubles (2023) with partner Fisher Dail. That same year, Cox and Dail placed second at the 4A District 1-2 championship. During her senior year, she placed third at the district championship in mixed doubles with partner Noah Spinney. A fierce competitor with a great serve, Cox was described by head coach Kent Anderson as the heart and soul of the Sandpoint High tennis team. “She was the glue of the team,” Anderson said. “Her attitude, her love for the team, was so important. She dealt with a lot of injuries over the course of her high school career that she has finally gotten over — she has fought through them all. She’s real tough, happy, just a great person. It will be a great bonding experience for her teammates at Macalester.” Macalester's women's team has posted a winning record in four out of the last five seasons and competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference against teams like Carleton, St. Olaf, and Bethel University.
