Full caption: Sandpoint High standout thrower Alex David recently committed to continue her track and field career at Rocky Mountain College (NAIA) in Billings, Mont. She was two-time state qualifier, having qualified for the discus (2023) and shot put (2022) once each. At the 4A District 1-2 Championships, she finished among the top five in the shot put three times, and the discus two times. She boasts personal bests of 111-2 in the discus and 33-4 in the shot put. More notably, David had the second-best javelin throw (110-6) in 4A and the fifth-best throw in the entire state across all divisions this past season. During her senior year, David posted top finishes across the board in the javelin, even winning the District 1 Meet of Champions — the meet where she set her personal record throw. The javelin, which was just reinstated this year in the state of Idaho (first ever time for girls), will be an IHSAA sanctioned event starting next season.
