William 'Bill' David Bennett, 83
William “Bill” David Bennett unexpectedly passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024.
He was born to William M. Bennett and Dorothy A. Wicoff-Bennett on Feb. 23, 1941, in Plainsboro, N.J.
When he was 4 years old, the family came out West to Malibu, Calif., around 1945.
Bill enjoyed anything outdoors and anything with a motor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and exploring the mountains on 4-wheelers, in his old Bronco or recently in the Jeep.
Bill owned the Seagull bar in Sunnyside for a few years with his then-wife, Gloria.
He also worked for Bargain Supply driving a concrete truck and drove for Dockins.
In 1974 Bill was hired as the district maintenance manager for Southside Water & Sewer District where he remained until his retirement.
Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife Lola, camping at the St. Joe River with friends and family.
He and Lola started spending winters in Quartzite, Ariz., with one of Bill’s best friends Jim Yount, where they made new friends and enjoyed sunny days and warmer weather.
Bill is survived by his wife Lola of nearly 49 years; sons, Ronn Bennett and Bill York; stepson John Deshon and his wife Lynn; grandkids, Rikki, Jesse, Samantha, Kyle, Allysa, and Kelsey; and two great-grandkids, Paisley and Preston; and nephews Jeff, Steve and Dennis McCracken and their families.
Bill loved his family and friends very much; he will truly be missed.
A private graveside memorial will be held for the family, which will be followed by a celebration of Bill’s life June 8, 2024, at the Heartwood Center in Sandpoint, Idaho, at 1 p.m. We welcome all of Bill’s friends and family to bring stories you may have of Bill, then enjoy some food and conversation together in his honor.
Family and friends are invited to sign Bill’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.
Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
