CAL awards grants to local nonprofits

The Community Assistance League is awarding 40 grants totaling $150,000 to organizations that assist residents in Bonner County.

The funds will support programs to provide art supplies, musical instruments, and outdoor activities for children, parking lot repairs, food to eliminate childhood hunger and support cancer care and mental health services to all residents.

CAL is a nearly 50-year-old organization dedicated to improving the lives of Bonner County residents through philanthropy. Although personal monetary donations are always welcome, the bulk of the monies the organization gives back to the community comes from proceeds from its shop, Bizarre Bazaar. Since 2006 CAL has gifted more than $2.3 million in grants and scholarships to date.
