Full caption: The Peak Sand and Gravel Phillies defeated the Northern Timber Crafters Diamondbacks 15-9 to win the Sandpoint Little League 'AAA' championship at Little Pine Field on Friday. The Phillies scored five runs in the first inning, but the Diamondbacks battled back to within one run later in the contest. In the top of the fifth inning, Solomon Mort hit a grand slam for the Diamondbacks to make it a 10-9 game. However, in the bottom half of the inning, Ivan Peak had a big hit for Phillies, who eventually put the game out of reach. Phillies pitchers Nash Oliver and Isaac Inman pitched well, only giving up one walk the entire game.
