Dufort culvert to be replaced

SANDPOINT — Notices of advertisement for a culvert replacement on Dufort Road will go out soon, following a unanimous vote by Bonner County commissioners Tuesday.

The 16-inch culvert passes under Dufort Road at Moore Creek, which is just east of the road’s intersection with Lakeshore Drive. This is the same area where the larger culvert on Dufort Road failed last year, Bonner County Road and Bridge Department director Jason Topp said.

“We’re going to look to replace it during low water in November which will be significantly cheaper than the other one because it will be a planned event and we don’t have to do a cofferdam,” he said.

Traffic would be detoured while construction is underway, Topp said, which is expected to take roughly three weeks.

The commissioners unanimously approved the notice of advertisement for the project.
