LPOHS graduates are amazing, inspiring

| June 13, 2024 1:00 AM

Lake Pend Oreille High School held its annual graduation ceremony June 6, 2024, where students were lovingly “roasted” and characterized by their faculty advisor before walking across the stage to accept their diplomas.

Each of these unique and talented individuals overcame personal challenges to arrive at this moment. Their High School journey was shared, amid tears and cheers, with their families and peers. These students were personally described as stubborn, opinionated, contrary, and reserved which translated to determined, persevering, tenacious, creative, cautious, hard-working, and other needed qualities to succeed in life. My personal "emotional moment" was when students shook my hand and said, “Thank you.” I struggled for a response. “You are welcome” seemed arrogant, while the more accurate “well done” was incomplete. So here is what I wish I had the time to say to each of our Graduates: “It is my privilege to be present to share in your celebration and cheer your success. Congratulations on completing the High School journey and achieving your degree. You accomplished this. I wish you the best of luck and joy in your future endeavors."

I am grateful to the incredible LPOHS staff and faculty, the supporting community of friends and families, and especially to each graduate for their hard work, resilience, and dedication.
