SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Parks and Recreation Department is looking to fill multiple positions to run its youth summer programs.

Katheryne Bradbury, Sandpoint Parks and Recreation supervisor, said multiple youth day camp counselors are needed for this year’s camps. The position would require no more than 29 hours of work a week for six weeks. No weekends will be required. Applicants must be 16 years and older to apply. Lead day camp counselors are also needed and must be 18 years or older to apply.

The city is also seeking coaches for the Little Dribblers Basketball Camp for the four weeks the program will run.

Swimming instructors are also being sought for 10 hours a week for six weeks, coinciding with the summer day camp program. Certifications and experience are required and applicants must be 18 years or older.

“The Recreation Department is really looking to ramp up our aquatics programs through education and certification of our potential summer staff,” Bradbury said. “If they are 17 years of age and up, they are able to become certified swim instructors as well as be hired on as camp counselors. Fees to be certified will be paid by the recreation department since it will be part of the counselor’s job if they are interested in instructing.”

Applications as well as wage information for these positions can be found on the city’s website at www.governmentjobs.com/careers/sandpoint.
