TWO CONSTRUCTION JOBS HELD UP

With two construction projects totaling nearly a third of a million dollars being held up, the Sandpoint chamber of commerce has named former Mayor Donald J. Diehl and secretary-manager Jim Parsons to work with city and county officials to attempt to hasten the work. The largest project is construction of six miles of US Hwy. 95 near Cocolalla, where the delay is due to lack of right-of-way across one piece of property and a question of relocation of telephone poles. The other project, construction of a new airport for Sandpoint, is held up due to inability to secure a piece of property needed for the runway.

CHIEF ASKS COOPERATION

“We’re counting on a repeat of the cooperation we had from citizens last summer in shutting off water used in irrigation when a fire alarm is sounded,” Fire Chief Claude Simon said Wednesday. “There is a lot of watering being done now and in case of fire we need all the pressure and capacity possible.”
