Booking toward the finish line
Cyclists compete in the 17th annual CHAFE 150 Gran Fondo bike ride on June 15. A Sandpoint Rotary event, CHAFE 150 contributes the ride’s proceeds to the Lake Pend Oreille School District. The funds help district staff to better meet the needs of students within the autism spectrum, which currently impacts every 1 in 68 children. Bicycling Magazine recently chose CHAFE 150 as the No. 3 charity ride in the nation.

Named as one of the top charity rides in the U.S., the event supports reading programs that are vitally important to the community and the future of young students. Proceeds from the ride will directly support the Book Trust program for students from kindergarten to third grade at all of the Lake Pend Oreille School District's elementary schools. The program enables students to select books throughout the school year that become their own books for reading.
