June 27, 1974 – CHERRI SHREFFLER WEDS
The Southside Community Church at Cocolalla was the site of Saturday’s wedding of Miss Cherri Evonne Shreffler and Clifford Hackney Jr. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Shreffler, Careywood. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hackney, Sr., Athol, are parents of the groom. After a North Idaho honeymoon, the newlyweds will be at home near Athol on the subdivisions near Hackney Airport.

CAUTION: WATER SKIERS & BOATERS
Use extreme caution during high water due to docks being covered with one foot of water. Utmost caution should be used to prevent erosion and damage to docks especially in narrow waterways. Bonner County Commissioners.

CITY COUNCIL MEETS IN SPECIAL SESSION
In an unannounced special meeting, Sandpoint’s city council approved plans for a parking lot next to the new Idaho First National Bank [in 2024, U.S. Bank, Second and Main]. The plan, submitted by the same firm that designed the bank, called for a price tag of $35,000 on the new lot. Mayor Les Brown said the need to act on plans for the new lot forced the meeting to be called on short notice.

HAMILTON COMPLETES PHOTO SCHOOL
Navy Airman Recruit Robert K. Hamilton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank R. Hamilton, Sagle, completed the Photographer’s Mate School at Pensacola, Fla.

June 27, 1949 – HOPE CAN’T COME
Bob Hope and his family will be unable to visit Lake Pend Oreille this month as they had planned. The famed comedian advised the Sandpoint chamber of commerce Monday that picture commitments necessitated a change of plans.

WADING POOL FOR CITY BEACH
The Sandpoint recreation board plans to construct a wading pool for non-swimming children at the city beach near the present beach house. City Engineer Art Tiggelbeck is preparing plans for the pool, which will be octagonal and about 36 feet in diameter. The pool is located so children can play in the sand and also spend as much time as they want in the pool. Bids will be opened for the project on July 1.

SPECIAL PLAY DAY FOR KIDS SATURDAY
Say, kids, did you know there’s going to be fun at the city park playground Saturday? Director Jack Jones announces a special play day with races for boys and girls and bingo games and prizes, too. The playgrounds are open under supervision from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. As an extra bit of fun, children are asked to bring a paper sack lunch. Lots of lemonade will be furnished free. “Please mark your name on your lunch,” said Director Jones. “We’ll check the lunches at the recreation booth until they are needed at noontime.” All youngsters are invited to come help each other have a good time.
