LPOSD hosting kindergarten enrollment event
SANDPOINT — While first through 12th graders are enrolling for schools across the district, future kindergarteners and their parents are invited to an in-person kindergarten registration event hosted by Lake Pend Oreille School District.
LPOSD officials are excited to welcome the incoming kindergarten class for the 2024-25 school year and would like to invite parents to drop by their zoned schools March 21 to enroll their children, officials said. They can drop by anytime between 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. or 12p.m.-2:45 p.m. Kids are welcome but not required for the registration process.
Children who are 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1 are welcome to enroll in kindergarten, LPOSD officials said. For enrollment into first grade, a child must be 6 years of age on or before Sept. 1.
“There are no exceptions under Idaho law for exceptionally mature students to enter school early,” LPOSD officials said in a press release.
All families will need to provide proof of residency, which can be a utility bill, internet bill, mortgage statement, or rental agreement, LPOSD officials said. Cell phone bills and driver’s licenses do not qualify as proof of residency.
If you’re unsure which school you’re zoned for, you can enter your home address on the School Site Locator website which will list the schools that are in the various zones.
School officials are encouraging parents to come to the in-person registration event if possible. Those who are unable to attend in person will be able to register online on LPOSD’s enrollment page, found under the Parent, Student, & Patron Resources section of the district website.
